21 weeks - almost 5 months old!

Barret is getting SO big!!! He now has TWO teeth!! I didn't manage to get a photo of them...but I will keep trying.

He has really become interested in toys. Toys on his jumper. Toys on his swing. Toys in the bathtub. He loves to play with toys now. But the most impressive development for Barret is that he has discovered jumping. He LOVES to jump. All the time. From the moment he wakes up, he wants to jump. Not only in his jumper, but sitting in your lap. Actually just sitting anywhere. He will start kicking his legs back and forth like he is jumping in his jumper, no matter where he is.

It is too cute. He just sways back and forth. He loves it! Travis said that when he went to pick up Barret from Mrs. Donna's today, that it seemed that she had a hard time holding onto him because of all of the jumping!

He also laughs so much now. He laugh when you talk to him and when you tickle him. He is just such a good baby.

He now goes down to sleep between 7:30 and 8:00. He would go to bed earlier if we would let him. He will lay in his crib sleepy or awake and not cry or whine. He just lays there until he goes to sleep. He is such a good man. He does still wake up 1 time a night to eat, but I can certainly manage that.

Everyday he seems to grow bigger. He is changing so much. My little baby is being replaced by a very big, grown-up baby. I try so hard to cherish each and every moment with him, but time is slipping through my fingers.

Daddy insists on bathing him IN the tub. He says it is easier...even though Barret splashes water ALL over him!

20 weeks

During his 20th week...we went to New Orleans to visit my family. I was very busy doing photoshoots, so Barret was able to bond with Uncle Kevin & Uncle KP. He also spent allot of time with Aunt Sommer, Aunt Charbo, Granny, PawPaw, and of course, his YaYa (Aunt Amanda).

Uncle KP fed Barret a bottle, which was a first for him. Everyone was so proud of him! And Uncle Kevin gave him a nickname...Big'un. I think it suites! Uncle Kevin kept telling us that Barret was teething, and sure enough, I glanced in his mouth on Sunday, and he had his 2nd tooth all the way through!

On Saturday, there was a big UT vs. Tech game...and Barret was all set. I think he brought them luck...because they won!!

These are Barret's 20 week photos. He found his lip during these photos...and refused to let it go!! This week we had a major milestone in Barret's life. He had 3 bottles of formula. It was a very difficult decision for me, but I have a trip coming up where I will be gone 6 days, and I just don't have enough milk stored up. I really did not want to do it, but I really don't have a choice. So we are going to supplement him during that time on formula. So, to prepare him for the change, we gave him a few bottles. Sadly, he hates it. He takes a mouthful, and then gags. It's very dramatic. But, if he is hungry enough, he will drink it.

I'm praying that I am still able to nurse him for a while yet. As much as I hated nursing him in the beginning, I love it equally as much now. I would be devastated if I had to quit now. And Barret certainly enjoys it more...you should just SEE the drama!

Barret is getting so big!!! He rode in the cart for the first time today! We wanted to check out that he was strong enough before we purchased his big boy carseat! Once we move to this car seat, he will have to be able to sit up in stores and restaurants. He is growing up way too fast!

He did so good, we went in and bought the carseat!

19 weeks - 4 1/2 months old

Our sweet boy is growing so fast!!! He loves to jump in his jumper. He loves to sleep in his crib. He loves to have you blow on his belly. He loves when you kiss him. and we love him more than we can say!

Funny story. Last night, I placed him in his crib facing the way I always do. In the morning, he was awake and playing for a while. We let him until he started to fuss a little. Travis went in to get him and brought him to our bed. He asked me why I placed him facing the opposite direction. I knew I didn't, so we went back and watched the video...and between 6:30 and 7:00 he woke up, and started turning on his side over and over, and eventually turned himself completely around in his bed. He can't turn over yet, but he sure does get around!

18 weeks and a new tooth!

Our sweet baby is 18 weeks old in these photos!! These were taken on Wednesday. Today, Friday September 4, 2009, I saw that Barret has cut his first tooth!!

I was playing with him, and pulled his lips up and he laughed. So obliged him and did it a few more times. I then peered in at the top, and no tooth. Then I glanced down at his bottom gums, and low and behold...a little white tooth had already broken through his gum.

We thought he was teething a few weeks ago because he was cranky. But he has been a complete joy the past few days. Who knew he was cutting a tooth...not his poor momma!

My little baby is growing up!! I am so proud of each accomplishment that he has, and so sad because it seems like my time with him as a little baby is slipping through my fingers like sand.

I try so very hard to cherish each and every moment I have with him. He is my joy. My love. My hope. I am so blessed.

and as you can see....his daddy loves him to pieces as well!
