13 weeks

Barret is exactly 3 months old now!!! exactly 3 months ago yesterday, he was born! Time is moving too quickly. He is already so very big! He is wearing 6 month clothes now! it is amazing.

He is getting so strong as well...as illustrated in the first photo, he can hold his head up all by himself. Travis loves to lay on his back and "help" Barret hold up his head by keeping his arms under him. Barret loves to do this, but can't seem to keep his arms under himself.

Also regarding this photo...I realized at around 7:30 that I hadn't gotten Barret's 13 week photo yet. I religiously take photos of him every Wednesday. So I grabbed the camera and asked Travis to come outside with me to take a few shots. He didn't want to because the neighbors would see us having a photoshoot out in the front yard. Well....look at him on the grass for all the world to see. It looks to me that he got over that concern quickly! What he won't do for our boy!

Barret now recognizes us! It is so sweet, whenever he sees our faces, he smiles hugely! It is so wonderful to see that he knows us! The other night at 3:00 am, I was feeding him. He was still in that asleep but hungry mode. He was nursing and all of the sudden he opened his eyes, saw me, pulled away and gave me the biggest smile...like he was surprised that I was there! too sweet.

I just want to cherish every moment with him. He is growing so fast, I am having a hard time remembering all of the small things like this.

12 weeks

I can't believe he is 12 weeks old...3 months now! WOW! where has the time gone? He is getting SO big!! He holds his head up so well now. We even put him in his bumbo...and he barely fit!! He is supposed to be able to sit in the bumbo for a few more months....but not our chunky monkey! When you pick him up, the bumbo comes with him!!

11 weeks

I'm WAY behind. Here are Barret's 11 week photos...

He is one fat, happy baby!!! as shown in the first photo!! He smiles so much more! and just found his tongue!! We love him beyond words. I went back to work officially this week...and he went to Mrs. Donna's for the first time. It was a big adjustment for me and Travis...but Barret handled it like a champ. The first day, I was going to bring Barret, and I was suprised that Travis wanted to go too. So we both brought him, and when Travis and I walked out to our cars, Travis was so upset! He said "I'm so glad you are working 2 days a week from home!" I knew I would be sad leaving him, but I had no idea how sad Travis would be. He even went to check on him during the day! We are so glad that we found Mrs Donna...he is well taken care of. I don't think that I could handle leaving him unless I felt this way.

Travis and I are both amazed how having Barret has made us our own little family. It's like Barret has made us love each other more. What a blessing.

10 weeks

Barret turned 10 weeks old yesterday. We went to the doctor on Monday (July 6th) and he weighed in at 15 lbs!!! That puts him in the 97th percentile in weight. He measured 23 3/4 inches....putting him in the 75th percentile in height! We knew he was big...but this is impressive! The doctor wasn't concerned about his weight because he is breastfed.

We have been having lots of trouble with Barret's skin. He seems to be very sensitive and is allergic to lotion. He breaks out in a terrible rash no matter what kind of lotion I use. Poor little man!

This was my first week back to work...and I ended up working the majority of it from home with him. Next week he will start going to a lady's house where he will be watched with 4 other kids. We feel very lucky to have found her to watch him.

9 weeks

We had lots happen this week! We flew to New Orleans (His first flight!) and he was such a very good boy! He slept the entire way on both flights. I carried him in his baby Bjorn, and he was as happy as could be! he FINALLY got to meet his Granny, PawPaw, Uncle Kevin, Aunt Charbo, YaYa (Auntie Amanda), Auntie Sommer, Uncle KP, and cousins Ricky Ann & Samantha! We had such a great time spending a week with them! He laughed for the first time with Aunt Charbo & Amanda! I didn't get to hear it...but I heard all about it! He then laughed for the 2nd time with me. It was so neat! AND he started smiling for real! I caught it on camera...again with Aunt Charbo. He sure does love her!

We then flew to Houston and met Daddy at the airport. He was SO excited to see Barret after a week. Neither of us realized how much more we miss the other now that we have Barret. He has made us a family of our own. We met Daddy at his gate, and he came up and scooped Barret up for some much needed hugs and kisses!

Then we took Barret on his first trip to the lake for July 4th! He got to meet his Grana (my mom) and Seth for the first time! As well as his great Granny, MawMaw, & PawPaw ...along with lots of friends and family. We had a great time. Next year, he will be running around at the lake! I can only imagine how fun that will be!

Barret & Audrey (Our friends Randy & Amanda's baby girl) were due 3 days apart. They were both born 3 weeks early on the same DAY! Audrey was born a few hours earlier and was only 2 oz. larger than Barret. We were all amazed at how BIG Barret is compared to Audrey. She is 11 lbs. and he is 15!!!! She is a beautiful, healthy little girl. He is just such a big man compared to her!
